Rohanna moves to 11th in Argentina Open
Robert Rohanna managed the windy conditions on Martindale Country Club enough Saturday to shoot 1-under 70 and move up into a tie for 11th place after three rounds in the 109th VISA Open de Argentina presented by Peugeot.
The Waynesburg Central graduate has a three-round total of 1-under 212. Argentina’s Emiliano Grillo has the hopes of his countrymen high as he holds the lead in his national championship after three rounds at 14-under 199.
Rohanna played well on the front nine. After a bogey on No. 4, Rohanna rolled birdies on Nos. 5 and 7. He then eagled No. 8 for the second day in a row to go out in 3-under 36.
Rohanna kept the momentum rolling on the back nine with a birdie on No. 11.
“(The round) went okay. The course played really tough again today. I had it going through 13,” said Rohanna via Facebook Messenger. “I was playing really solid, then had a weird drive from what I was doing all day and hit in the hazard.
“I made a double and then I just kind of struggled to the finish.”
Rohanna finished with double bogey on No. 14 and added another bogey on No. 17 to finish the back nine in 2-over 37.
“I made some pars, though, and got the round under par,” Rohanna said of his finishing holes. “Under par is good at this place. The pins are tricked up and (the wind) is blowing 20-30 (miles per hour), so it’s tough.”
