Roaring Lions sweep doubleheader
The Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus’ basketball teams weren’t the most gracious hosts Sunday afternoon as the Roaring Lions swept a PSUAC doubleheader from visiting Penn State Worthington Scranton.
The men won 91-58, while the women opened the afternoon with a 73-61 victory.
The Lady Roaring Lions led by 20 at the half, 44-24, and then cruised in the final 20 minutes. The visitors held a slight advantage in the second half, 37-29.
Courtney Haines led Penn State Fayette (3-1, 3-6) with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Kaitlin Miller also had a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points. Ally Rudolph scored 13 points. Jackie Halapy added 18 points and Shannon Flament pulled down 10 rebounds.
Aubrey Wargowski led Worthington Scranton (0-4, 3-4) with 21 points. Kayla Cavanaugh had 15 and Danielle Seglia added 10.
The men led by five at halftime, 46-41, but just ran away from Worthington Scranton in the second half, 45-17.
A quartet of Roaring Lions (5-0, 8-3) were in double figures, led by Brandon Cunningham’s 21 points. Matt McKenna finished with 16 points. Jacob Bronder added 15 and Luke Williams had 10.
Jeff Griffin had 11 points for Worthington Scranton (2-3, 5-7).
