Big third quarter lifts Bearcats over Maples

Bentworth got 21 points from Angelo Rios-Lopez in a 62-27 non-section boys basketball win at Mapletown Monday night.

Damon Petrola-Bakos added 14 for the winners, while Nick Malanosky chipped in 10.

Matt Hein led the Maples with 15 points.

A 29-3 Bentworth scoring advantage in the third quarter proved to be the difference, as it built a 20-17 halftime lead into a 49-20 advantage.

Bentworth is 2-0, Mapletown fell to 0-3 and opens Section 3-A play Friday at Avella.
