Henneman tops 1,000 as Rockets top B-C
Rece Henneman scored the 1,000th point of his Jefferson-Morgan basketball career in a 61-44 non-section boys basketball win over Beth-Center Monday night.
Henneman led all scorers with 34 points and finished the evening with 1,003 career points for the Rockets.
Austin Clark added 15 points for the Rockets, who are 2-0.
Brady McDonnell led Beth-Center with 14, while Ryan Beyer added 12. The Bulldogs are 1-2.
The Rockets travel to Bentworth Wednesday, while Beth-Center is off until its Section 4-AA opener Friday at Charleroi.

Bentworth 67, Mapletown 27 — Bentworth got 21 points from Angelo Rios-Lopez in a 62-27 non-section boys basketball win at Mapletown Monday night.
Damon Petrola-Bakos added 14 for the winners, while Nick Malanosky chipped in 10.
Matt Hein led the Maples with 15 points.
A 29-3 Bentworth scoring advantage in the third quarter proved to be the difference, as it built a 20-17 halftime lead into a 49-20 advantage.
Bentworth is 2-0, Mapletown fell to 0-3 and opens Section 3-A play Friday at Avella.
Girls basketball
Belle Vernon 62, Greensburg Salem 40 – Kaitlyn Slagus poured in 35 points and Brea Rathway added 15, as Belle Vernon beat Greensburg Salem, 62-40, in non-section girls basketball Monday night.
Claire Oberdorf scored 35 of her team’s 40 points against BVA.
The Lady Leps improved to 2-1 and host Ringgold in the Section 4-AAA opener Thursday night. Greensburg Salem fell to 1-2 and hosts Laurel Highlands in the Section 3-AAA opener also Thursday.

E-F 72, Connellsville 36 – Connellsville fell behind 36-17 at halftime and managed only 19 second-half points in a 72-36 loss at Elizabeth-Forward in non-section girls basketball Monday night.
Abby Sporio paced the Lady Warriors (3-0) with 24 points, Olivia Barkley added 14 and Jessica Palaey scored 11. Molly Bauer paced the Lady Falcons (2-1) with eight.
Connellsville opens Section 1-AAAA action at Norwin Thursday.

Hundred 46, West Greene 20 – Hundred started its girls basketball season with a 46-20 win at West Greene Monday night.
Emily Rine led the way for Hundred with 14 points, while Paige Shriver (13) and Josie Phillips (12) also scored in double figures.
Marissa Rode led the Lady Pioneers with eight points.
Hundred is 1-0, while West Greene fell to 0-3. The Lady Pioneers host Beth-Center today, with game time set for 6 p.m.

California 50, Frazier 41 – Lindsey Huhn and Bailey Vig scored 14 points each to lead California to a comeback win, 50-41, over Frazier in non-section girls basketball action Monday night at California.
The Lady Trojans went into the fourth quarter facing a 36-34 deficit, but pulled out the win with a 16-5 scoring edge over the final eight minutes.
Jenna Miller added 10 points for California (2-1), while Cassidy Guiser and Emily Marshall led Frazier (0-1) with 10 points each.

Brownsville 64, AG 16 – The Seto sisters took care of business for Brownsville in the Lady Falcons’ 64-16 non-section girls basketball win at Albert Gallatin.
Maris Seto scored 23, while Alie Seto added 12 to lead the way for Brownsville (3-0).
Albert Gallatin (0-3) got four points from Casey Parson.
Brownsvile led 17-5 after one quarter and 33-7 at halftime.

J-M 50, Carmichaels 41 – Kayla Yorko scored 21 points and Jefferson-Morgan improved to 3-0 with a 50-41 win at Carmichaels Monday night.
Caroline Cree led all scorers with 25 for the Lady Mikes (1-2). Carmichaels travels to Mapletown tonight.
Jefferson-Morgan opens Section 3-A play Thursday when Monessen visits.
