LH sweeps swim meet at Belle Vernon
The Fillies took first in every event in defeating host Belle Vernon, 95-46, and the Mustangs were also victorious, 91-64, in a non-section swim meet on Tuesday.
In the girls meet, Laurel Highlands’ Rachel Roscoe, Mackenzie Robatin, Emily Yarish and Kristen Bane each won two individual events and took part in a pair of winning relays.
Roscoe won the 50 freestyle (:26.14) and the 100 freestyle (:56.48), notching a WPIAL qualifying time in the latter. Robatin earned victories in the 100 butterfly (1:07.84) and 100 backstroke (1:06.62). Bane triumphed in the 200 IM (2:21.84) and the 500 freestyle (5:45.72). Yarish touched first in the 200 freestyle (2:06.97) and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.25).
Robatin, Roscoe, Bane and Britney Galik combined to win the 200 medley relay (2:07.41). It was Roscoe, Brittany Silbaugh, Annette Yauger and Yarish taking first inthe 200 freestyle relay (2:01.79). Bane, Robatin, Galik and Yarish teamed up for victory in the 400 freestyle relay (4:10.27).
The Fillies improved to 3-0.
In the boys meet, Laurel Highlands’ Daniel Keith and Logan Knoyer each earned two individual firsts and took part in two relay wins.
Keith won the 200 freestyle (2:01.97) and the 100 backstroke (1:04.79), recording a WPIAL qualifying time in the former.
Knoyer topped the field in the 200 IM (2:06.63) and the 100 freestyle (:49.17) with the latter being a WPIAL qualifying time.
Brandon Thomas also won twice for LH (3-0) and took part in one winning relay. Thomas took first in the 100 butterfly (:55.35) and the 100 breaststroke (1:05.28) with the former being a WPIAL qualifying time.
Other individual winners for the Mustangs (3-0) were Daniel Schiffbauer in the 500 freestyle (6:19.73),
The Mustangs (3-0) won the 200 freestyle relay behind Keith, Jonathan Arnold, Devin James and Knoyer with a WPIAL qualifying time of 1:42.51.
LH’s Knoyer, Keith, Cameron Lizza and Thomas combined to win the 400 freestyle relay (3:47.32).
The Leopards’ Noah Wiggins took first in the 50 freestyle (:24.75) and teamed up with Lincoln Mimdis, Jonathan Susick and David Mosco to win the 200 medley relay (1:55.23).
Belle Vernon’s David Mosco finished second in the 100 freestyle but hit the WPIAL qualifying time by finishing in :53.15.
Laurel Highlands hosts Latrobe on Thursday at 6 p.m.
