Mustangs gallop past Waynesburg, 88-58
Laurel Highlands scored over 20 points in each of the first three quarters Tuesday night as the Mustangs breezed to an 88-58 non-section road victory at Waynesburg Central.
The Mustangs (6-5) led 24-12 after the first quarter and 49-29 at halftime. Laurel Highlands increased its lead to 75-43 after three quarters.
David Rusko scored a game-high 24 points for Laurel Highlands. Patrick Mahoney and Jake Swartz both finished with 16 points.
Dom Sarra led the Raiders (5-4) with 18 points. Mitch Warman had 16 and Jason Zeleny finished with 13.

West Greene 63, Hundred (W.Va.) 42 – West Greene scored 20 points in each of the first two quarters and the Pioneers cruised to a 63-42 non-section victory over visiting Hundred (W.Va.).
The Pioneers (3-7) led 20-9, 40-17 and 51-29 at the quarter breaks.
Craig Weaver led West Greene with 19 points. Bray Jackson and Kolton Rush both scored 13.
Hundred’s Brandon Armstrong scored a game-high 22 points.

Freedom 65, Geibel Catholic 49 – The Gators played Freedom pretty even over the final three quarters Tuesday, but Geibel Catholic couldn’t overcome the first quarter in a 65-49 loss in the consolation game of the Avella Christmas Tournament.
Freedom led 20-7 after the first quarter. The two teams played to a 29-all score in the middle quarters and Freedom had a slight 16-13 lead in the fourth quarter.
Nick Henderson led Freedom with a game-high 19 points. Brenton Harrison scored 15 and Santino Glondolo added 12.
James Ewing and Matt Mammarella shared scoring honors for the Gators (5-5) with 10 points apiece.
Girls basketball
Mapletown 32, West Greene 19 – The Mapletown girls broke open a close game with a 10-2 advantage in the second quarter as the Lady Maples defeated West Greene, 32-19, Tuesday night in the consolation game of the Bentworth Holiday Tournament.
The Lady Maples (3-6) led 6-3 after the first quarter and extended their lead to 16-5 at halftime. Mapletown increased its lead to 25-11 after three quarters.
Hannah Dingle led Mapletown with nine points. Rachel Buchtan grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Sarah Courtwright scored 10 points for the Lady Pioneers (0-11) and made the all-tournament team.
