Copperheads keep on rolling

Joe Monica had three hits, including a home run, and Justin Schrader pitched five shutout innings as Carmichaels rolled past host Dunbar, 11-1, in a Fayette County Baseball League on Sunday.

The Copperheads remain perfect on the season at 14-0 and extended their league-record winning streak to 38 games.

Carmichaels scored three runs in each of the first two innings and never looked back. Monica homered leading off the second.

Chuck Gasti, Eric Holt and Gene Franks each smacked a double and a single for the Copperheads. J.W. Kayla also had two hits and George Taylor added a double.

Schrader (4-0) struck out seven and walked two in earning the win.

Dave Gaisbauer had three hits for Dunbar (11-8) and Cody Cross singled twice.
