Mill Run tops NY Pizza in Game 1
Mill Run put up a three in the fifth inning, and rode the pitching of Bill Bendis to a 3-0 victory in Game 1 of the Fayette County Baseball League semifinals over New York Pizza at Hutchinson Field.
Bendis allowed four hits in seven innings of work. He struck out six and walked threw.
Mill Run (16-9) opened the fifth with Matt White taking first base on a hit by pitch. Grant Wortman followed with a single and White scored when Grant Witt reached on an error.
Seth Bruner following with a two-run single to give the visitors a 3-0 lead.
Bobby Madison suffered the loss for New York Pizza (16-8). He allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings. He had seven strikeouts and two walks.
Game 2 will be played at 6 p.m. today at Mill Run. Jason Halfhill is the tentative starter for Mill Run.
