New York Pizza rallies for win

Mike Pegg’s two-run single in the bottom of the seventh lifted New York Pizza over visiting Jake’s Pizza, 5-4, in Fayette County Baseball League action on Sunday.

Winning pitcher Cullen Hoone went the distance, allowing eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Jake’s Pizza scored twice in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead before the hosts rallied.

Chaz Phillips had three hits, including a double for New York Pizza, Joey Superick contributed two hits and Ken Musko added a double.

Losing pitcher Sam Bashioum gave up nine hits and three walks with four strikeouts in tossing a complete game, and also had two hits. Jack Schepanik doubled and singled for the visitors.

Superick and Phillips started the winning rally with singles and both moved up on a passed ball to set up Pegg to delilver the one-out winning hits.

New York Pizza will play two homes games at Bailey Park this week, hosting Company G on Tuesday and Dunbar on Thursday, both a 7:45 p.m.
