Luko tosses another no-hitter in Trojans’ 3-0 win
California 3, Jefferson-Morgan 0 — Josh Luko was one walked batter away from a perfect game Friday afternoon as the Trojans kept rolling along in Section 1-A play.
California improves to 9-0 in the section and 15-0 overall. The Rockets slip to 3-6 and 3-10.
Luko retired the first seven batters before he issued a walk to Ryan Siebert in the third inning. He then retired the next 14 Rockets for his second no-hitter of the season.
Luko struck out 11 and had a double.
The Jefferson-Morgan pitching staff had a strong outing, allowing just five hits. The Trojans’ Louden Conte had the big hit of the game, a two-run home run in the top of the third inning. Jake Columbus added an RBI single in the sixth.
The Rockets defense turned two double plays.
“(Luko) pitched ahead all game. He did a nice job. He’s to be commended,” said Jefferson-Morgan coach John Curtis. “It was a great game.”
