Bulldogs slip past Brownsville, 2-1
Beth-Center 2, Brownsville 1 — Lucas Zellie doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the fifth inning after fouling off several 3-2 pitches to lead the Bulldogs to Section 2-AA victory over the visiting Falcons.
Seth Hvizda opened the bottom of the fifth with a walked and moved to second on a sacrifice. Zellie then brought him home with the eventual winning run.
Shane Roebuck scored after he tripled in the top of the third inning, but Beth-Center (5-10, 4-7) countered with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Zellie pitched the final three innings to earn the win, allowing no hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
Gino Faieta had a pair of singles for the Bulldogs.
Tucker Pritts took the loss for the Falcons, who only mustered two hits in the game.
Brownsville goes to 9-3 in the section and 11-5 overall. The Falcons close the season with two section games at home, Fort Cherry on Monday and Charleroi on Wednesday.
