Beth-Center routs Fort Cherry

Beth-Center 14, Fort Cherry 4 — Beth-Center exploded for six runs in the first inning on its way to a five-inning Section 2-AA win over visiting Fort Cherry in high school baseball action on Tuesday.

Winning pitcher Lane Zekir gave up one run in three innings with no walks and two strikeouts. Josh Sutherland and Lucas Zellie each three an inning in relief.

Dominic Welsh led a 13-hit attack for coach Frank Pryor’s Bulldogs with three hits, three runs scored and two RBIs. Aaron Ankney had two hits, two runs and two RBIs, Tyler Beyer knocked in one run with a pair of singles, Zellie drove in a pair of runs with a double and a single, and Matt Riggle added a double and four RBIs.

Colton Kobrys doubled for the Rangers (3-11, 3-10) and John Findling took the loss.

Beth-Center (7-10, 6-7) plays three more games in the next two days. The Bulldogs are at Bentworth at 3:30 p.m. and host Jefferson-Morgan at 6:30 p.m. today, then host Peters Township on Thursday at 6:45 p.m.
