Rohannas make the cut

By The 2 min read

Neither Robert and Rachel Rohanna had sub-par rounds Friday, but the pair played well enough to make it to the weekend of their respective tournaments.

Robert Rohanna shot an even-par 72 for a two-round total of 2-under 142 (70-72) in the Lexus Panama Classic on the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica. Rachel Rohanna had a little tougher 18 holes, finishing with a 2-over 74 for a two-round total of 1-under 143 at the Symetra Classic at Raintree Country Club in Charlotte, N.C.

Robert Rohanna had only one blemish on what was otherwise a good round when he carded a triple bogey-7 on No. 8. The Waynesburg Central grad came right back with a birdie-4 on No. 9 to go out in 2-over 38. He completed his recovery from the triple bogey with back-to-back birdies on No. 12 (birdie-4) and No. 13 (birdie-3) to come back in 2-under 34.

Rohanna is in a 9-way tie for 35th place with the cut at 1-under par.

Argentina’s Gato Zarlenga holds the lead after two rounds on the Buenaventura County Club at 10-under 134.

Rachel Rohanna opened with a 3-under 69 Thursday, but had a rougher day in the second round on Friday with back-to-back bogeys on Nos. 7-8 to go out in 2-over 38. She recovered with a birdie on No. 11, but gave the stroke back with a bogey on No. 13 to come back in even-par 36.

Rohanna opened the round tied for 20th, and finished the round tied for 20th. As she did in the opening round, Rohanna hit 12-of-14 fairways. She hit 13-of-18 greens in regulation, compared to 15-of-18 in the first round, and needed 33 putts.

Great Britain’s Olivia Higgins-Jordan leads going into the final round at 7-under 137 (68-69).
