Rohanna moves up the leaderboard after carding 66
Robert Rohanna made a move Saturday in the third round of the PGA TOUR Latinoamerica’s Personal Classic, beating the weather to shoot 6-under 66 and move up 10 places on the leaderboard.
The third round ended with 21 golfers, including leader Fabian Gomez, still on the Las Praderas Club Campos de Golf in Buenos Aires, Argentina, because of dangerous weather. Play resumes at 8 a.m. for those still on the course, but Rohanna didn’t sound hopeful about the weather in the final round.
“We are supposed to get 2-4 inches of rain tonight into tomorrow and the temperature drops 30 degrees,” Rohanna said via Facebook Messenger.
Rohanna has a three-day total of 10-under 206 and is tied for 18th after starting the third round in a 28th place.
The Waynesburg Central had a rough start with a bogey-5 on No. 1, but rebounded with an eagle-3 on No. 4. He continued to shave strokes off his score with a birdie-3 on No. 6 and then closed out the front nine as he had in Round 2, with an eagle-3, to go out in 4-under 32.
Rohanna had his first bogey-free nine holes on the back with two birdies and seven pars to come back in 2-under 34.
“Yeah I did!,” Rohanna said when asked if he got some putts to fall. “I had some good shots, but definitely got a few (putts) to fall today.
“I guess I just got lucky with the reads today! Still, it feels like every putt could break both directions, but I did stuff some iron shots today.”
Rohanna wasn’t too hopeful the fourth round would be completed, but thought he would be able to handle the poor weather conditions and continue the momentum of the third round.
“Hopefully! If we have a final round,” Rohanna responded when asked if he carry over Saturday’s play. “The wind was brutal today and then it stopped with like 3 holes left and then it started blowing super hard again.
“I seem to be (a good bad weather golfer). I think I’m just better when conditions don’t allow a ton of birdies where actually making some pars is a good thing.”
