Gators soccer team clinches playoff berth

James Ewing scored four goals and assisted on three others as Geibel Catholic clinched a WPIAL playoff berth with an 11-0 thrashing of host Washington in a Section 4-A boys soccer game on Tuesday night.

Thanks to three goals by Bailey McIntyre, the first-place Gators (11-2, 8-1) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first half to put the game away early.

Chris Martin had two goals, including the first one on an assist from Ewing, and also had an assist.

Gators goaltender Kyle Toth not only didn’t give up a goal but also contributed an assist.

Matt Mammorella had a goal and an assist for Geibel, which also got a goal from Jung-in Park.

Also assisting on goals for the Gators were Arthur Savage, Tommy Kovalchuk, Clancy McIntyre and Brent Plisko.

The Prexies fall to 0-13, 0-10.

Geibel Catholic hosts Charleroi on Thursday at 5 p.m.
