Rohanna remains in the hunt for qualifying berth
Rachel Rohanna finished with a 1-over 73 in the third round of LPGA Q School Stage II Thursday on the Plantation Golf & Country Club’s Panther Course to remain in contention for a berth in Stage III.
The Waynesburg Central graduate is in an 18-way tie at 4-over 220 in 64th place, which runs through the low 81 scores. The low 80 scores and ties after today’s fourth and final round advance to Stage III in December.
“It was a pretty good 1-over,” said Rohanna, who started on No. 10. “I was 3-over after the first six, seven holes. I made a good comeback.
“I had a mental lapse with some poor putting. I had a 4-putt on a par-3. Other than that, though, I made some excellent putts on the back nine.”
Rohanna continued, saying, “I made some pretty good pars. I feel pretty good overall. I played pretty solid. Mentally, it was a tough day.”
Rohanna had hoped for a morning tee time and her wish was granted with an 8:22 a.m. start on the Bobcat course off No. 1.
“Playing in the morning is more of an advantage. The grass on the green grows and there’s foot prints (as play reaches the afternoon),” said Rohanna. “I’d much rather be on Bobcat. If I can get some putts to fall, I’ll be OK. I want a good finishing 18 holes.”
