Tarr scores hat trick in Mustangs’ 6-1 win
Colby Tarr scored a natural hat trick Thursday night to lead Laurel Highlands’ to a 6-1 victory against visiting Uniontown in the Section 6-AA finale for both teams.
Tarr scored the lone goal of the first half early at 33:39.
Tarr opened the scoring of the second half when he found the back of the net at 38:30. He completed the hat trick 17 minutes later.
Brandon Williams’ goal at 18:46 pushed the Mustangs’ lead to 4-0. Ryan Gesso then scored back-to-back goals to increase the advantage to 6-0 with 10:46 remaining.
Uniontown avoided the shutout when Jack Killinger scored on a penalty kick with 2:59 remaining.
Girls volleyball
West Greene fell to Frazier, 3-0, at home on Thursday in Section 5-A play.
The Lady Commodores won by the scores 25-11, 25-12, and 25-15.
Alexis Eicher had eight kills in Frazier’s victory. Teammate Jamie Muccioli had 18 service points.

California lost to Jefferson-Morgan, 3-0, in Section 5-A action at California on Thursday.
California’s Jenna Miller had nine kills, while teammate Kiki Tyler had seven. Kat Pankratz had 13 assists, two kills, and three aces.

The Lady Mikes won a Section 5-A match on the road at Mapletown on Thursday, defeating the Lady Maples, 3-0.
The match scores were 25-23, 25-17, and 25-19 in favor of Carmichaels.
Lindsay Scott had 11 service points and five kills for the Lady Mikes, while teammate Emma Lowry added eight service points and five kills.
Carmichaels’ Emma Lewis also had five kills in the team’s victory, while Katie Mays had seven.
Madison Bogden had 16 service points and six kills for the Lady Maples and Abby Shipley added nine service points.

Trinity defeated Albert Gallatin, 3-0, in a Section 2-AAA match at Trinity on Thursday.
Makayla Hall had 14 digs and three aces in the Lady Colonials’ loss. Teammate Tyler Peebles had 23 assists, 15 digs, and two aces.
Liberty Embacher had four blocks, five kills, and nine digs for Albert Gallatin, while Shaylyn Clancy had four digs, four kills, and two aces, and Alyssa Brady had five digs and five kills.

The Geibel Catholic Lady Gators lost a non-section match at Bishop Canevin, 3-0, on Thursday night.
Riley Bocan had 13 digs and six kills in Geibel Catholic’s loss. Teammate Haley Thomas had four kills, while Ashley Tomasko had 12 assists and three aces.
Haley Solan had four assists and two aces for the Lady Gators, while Kaylee Ermine had 13 digs.

The Brownsville Lady Falcons earned a home victory on Thursday, defeating visiting Waynesburg Central, 3-0, in Section 5-AA play.
Brownsville won 25-22, 25-18, and 25-18.
Alie Seto had 15 service points, five aces, and 10 kills in the Lady Falcons’ win. Teammate Kyonte Martin had 15 assists.
Girls soccer
The Lady Falcons earned a non-section win at home on Thursday, defeating Chartiers-Houston 4-2.
Peyton Jacobs opened scoring for Brownsville just ten minutes into the game, scoring the lone goal of the first half.
Jenna Shumar scored the Lady Falcons’ first goal of the second half on a penalty kick about halfway through the second half.
Shumar scored Brownsville’s next goal five minutes later, followed by the final goal of the game from Jacobs with just six minutes left in the game.

Brooke Rusilko scored the first goal of the non-section match Thursday night, and then netted the final two to lead Beth-Center to a 3-2 victory over visiting Albert Gallatin.
Rusilko scored the only goal of the first half.
Goals by Jessica Ohler and Katelyn Flowers gave the Lady Colonials (0-17-0) a 2-1 advantage in the second half.
Rusilko then completed her hat trick to lift the Lady Bulldogs (4-11-0) to the non-section win.
The Lady Colonials’ Karli Thomas made 33 saves.
