By The 1 min read

California Unversity of Pa. earned a 43-32 win at Clarion on Saturday to set up a PSAC-West showdown with Gannon next week.

The Vulcans (7-1, 6-1) scored four early touchdowns and overcame 12 penalties to defeat the Golden Eagles (2-6, 2-5) and maintain its one-game lead over the Golden Knights and Slippery Rock with two conference games remaining.

Cal’s James Harris completed 18 of 33 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns, although he did throw an interception to snap his streak of 182 consecutive tosses without a pick.

Terrell Roberson rushed for 83 yards and two TDs and Nick Grissom added 73 yards to spur the Vulcans’ ground game.

Cal trailed 8-7 late in the first quarter when before a 1-yard touchdown run by Roberson put the Vulcans ahead to stay.

Cal led 28-14 at halftime and 38-26 after three quarters. Cody Nuzzo kicked his second field goal to make it 41-26 early in the fourth quarter and Cal hung on from there.

Belle Vernon graduate Spencer Lynn, a senior linebacker, led the Vulcans with 12 tackles.

Cal hosts Gannon at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Adamson Stadium.
