Cal wins PSAC doubles
The California (Pa.) doubles team of Jesse Burrell and Kiefer Shaw won the doubles title Sunday at the PSAC Individual Championships.
Seeded third, Burrell and Shaw defeated teammates Lucie Rey and Ramona Czakon in the finals, 6-4.

Skovira scores winner
Southmoreland graduate Hayley Skovira scored the game-winning goal in the second overtime Sunday to lead Washington & Jefferson to a 4-3 non-conference win Sunday at Pitt-Greensburg.
Hayley Skovira scored on a free kick outside the box at 2:25 of the second overtime. She also assisted on the second goal of the game.
Jess Skovira scored the Presidents’ first goal 4:49 into the game.
Locals excel in college
Four local graduates are continuing their soccer careers at Waynesburg University and another is at Carlow University.
Connellsville graduate Ashlyn Fratto enters her senior season as a goalkeeper at Carlow University. She played in two matches last year, as well as appearing in 14 matches on offense.
Uniontown graduate Jillian Grena is a senior midfielder at Waynesburg University. She played 15 matches with no starts in 2013.
Connellsville grads Marian Chearney (Fr., goalkeeper) and Caitlin Fess (Fr., defender) and Waynesburg Central graduate Jenna Bohach (Soph., defender) are also on the Yellow Jackets roster.

Hayes earns honor
California (Pa.) middle hitter Danielle Hayes was recently selected to the Vulcan Invitational All-Tournament team after leading the Vulcans to three wins over the weekend.
Hayes led the Vulcans with a .333 hitting percentage, while she was second with 2.35 kills, 1.35 blocks and 3.18 points per set. Hayes recorded seven kills against NYIT, 11 kills against Rollins, nine against Alderson Broaddus and a career-high 13 kills against Cedarville.
