Bulldogs down Pioneers in non-section play
Beth-Center scored six runs in the first two innings en route to a 9-4 victory over West Greene in non-section high school baseball action Thursday at West Greene.
Tim Terhorst earned the win on the mound for the Bulldogs (2-2). Terhorst allowed two earned runs on eight hits in seven innings. He struck out two and didn’t walk a batter.
Beth-Center scored two runs in the top of the first inning, but the Pioneers (0-2) tied the game with two in the bottom of the inning. The Bulldogs scored four in the second for a 6-2 lead.
B-C added two in the fourth to extend its lead to 8-2. WG narrowed the deficit to 8-4 with two in the fifth. The Bulldogs added one run in the sixth.
Tyler Ross led B-C’s offensive charge with two singles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Teammate Lane Ziker doubled.
The Pioneers’ Mike Howard had two doubles.
Dillon Shields suffered the loss for West Greene. He had six strikeouts and two walks.
Beth-Center hosts Charleroi Tuesday in Section 2-AA action.
