Lady Maples too much for Avella, 11-1

Michaela Perry hit a two-run double in a six-run second inning to help propel Mapletown to an 11-1 win over visiting Avella in a five-inning Section 2-A softball game on Friday.

Maddie Bogden drove in two runs with a pair of singles and Elisa Clark also had two hits and an RBI for the Lady Maples (5-3, 3-3).

Winning pitcher Makenzie Cree struck out four and walked none in tossing a two-hitter, shutting down the Lady Eagles in the fifth to end the game on the 10-run rule.

Brooke Burchianti smacked a double for Avella (2-5, 1-4). Becca Spencer singled and scored the Lady Eagles’ only run on Sarah Maidment’s RBI grounder in the fourth.

Sammy Dunkle struck out three, walked five and allowed six hits in taking the loss for the Lady Eagles.
