Red Raiders hold on for 5-1 win over BVA

Uniontown scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning Monday afternoon and Mark Fike made the advantage stand as the Red Raiders defeated visiting Belle Vernon, 5-1, in Section 4-AAA action.

The Leopards (3-4, 3-5) scored their lone run in the top of the third inning. The Red Raiders (2-6, 2-9) added a solo run in the bottom of the fifth.

Fike went the distance, allowing five hits with six strikeouts and one walk.

The Red Raiders’ Christian Forsythe went 2-for-2 and scored a run. Colby Simmons scored a pair of runs. Fike and Tyler Frazee drove in one run apiece for Uniontown.

Isaiah Engstrom went 2-for-3 for the Leopards.
