Mikes keep title hopes alive with 4-0 win

Carmichaels 4, Bentworth 0 – Carmichaels kept its hopes of at least a share of the Section 1-A title alive Wednesday afternoon with a 4-0 victory over visiting Bentworth.

The Mikes improve to 6-2 in the section and 10-2 overall. Carmichaels has remaining games with California today and Jefferson-Morgan on Friday.

The Bearcats are now 7-2 and 10-3 overall and have one game left with California.

Leading 1-0 through four innings, the Mikes’ Michael Blasinsky blasted a three-run home run over the right-center field fence for a 4-0 lead.

Jacob Kinsell (4-1) made the lead stand, scattering three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk. The Mikes committed two errors in the first inning, but Kinsell pitched out of the jam.

“Jacob threw a nice game. He was in command the whole way,” praised Carmichaels coach Dickie Krause.

The Mikes Jacob Wamsley had a pair of singles, including a run-producing hit in the third inning.
