Stiner leads Brownsville over Beth-Center
Greg Stiner was medalist in Brownsville’s 241-274 win over Beth-Center in a Section 8-AA boys golf match played at Carmichaels Golf Club Wednesday.
Stiner shot a 44, one stroke better than the Beth-Center tandem of Tim Terhorst and Noah Wible, who each carded a 45.
Brownsville’s Dalton Mullen was next at 47, with Dan Mullen right behind at 48. Cory Lent and Bryant Lewis shot matching 51s for Brownsville (1-1, 1-1).
Noah Meyers shot 59 for Beth-Center (0-1, 0-2), while Justin Terhorst shot a 61 and Anthony Dellapenna finished with a 64.

Carmichaels 222, JM 337 – Liam Shea’s 2-over 38 made him the medalist in Carmichaels’ 222-337 Section 8-AA boys golf win over Jefferson-Morgan Wednesday at Greene County Country Club.
Chris McAfee was next for the Mikes (2-0) with a 43, Jacob Wamsley followed at 44, with Matthew Barrish at 47 and Josh Bogucki at 50.
Gage Clark paced the Rockets (0-2) with a 46. The rest of JM’s scores were Nikki Venick’s 68, Gavin Wood’s 73, Casey Wilson’s 74 and Bobby Coles’ 76.

Southmoreland 222, Geibel Catholic 263 – Corey Schafer shot a 3-over 39 to lead Southmoreland to a 222-263 Section 2-AA boys golf win over Geibel Catholic at Timber Ridge Wednesday.
Josh Redding was next for the Scotties with a 41 and Noah House shot 44. Bailey Stapleton and Nathan Rizza shot matching 49s.
Anthony Lovat was low for Geibel Catholic with a 44, while Vinny Delsignore was next at 49. John-Luke Tlumack shot 55, Steve Conko 57 and Joel Lazor 58.

Frazier 241, GCC 253 – Annika Erdely led Frazier with a 44 and the Commodores had four golfers shoot under 50 in a 241-253 Section 2-AA win over Greensburg Central Catholic Wednesday at Linden Hall.
Blair Elliott shot 46, Mark Dillon added a 48 and Austin Murphy shot 49 for Frazier (2-0), while Chad Koltiska shot a 54.
Zach Boote matched Erdely with a 44 for GCC (1-1), while Jake Skoboda shot 46. Sean Palcic (52), Adam Frank (55) and Zak Lipniskis (56) rounded out the GCC scoring.

Connellsville 221, Ringgold 237 – All five Connellsville golfers shot within five strokes of each other, as the Falcons beat Ringgold, 221-237, in Section 2-AAA golf Wednesday on the back nine at Cedarbrook.
Lydia Glotfelty led the way for Connellsville (2-0, 2-0) with a 42, one stroke better than Zach Beneke. Jake Tzan was next at 44, Luke Bruner came in at 45 and Gavin Swink shot 47.
Neil Hancock was medalist with a 41 to lead Ringgold (0-1, 0-1), while Daniel Martinelli shot 42. Calem Hyslop and Brandon Jacobs carded twin 51s and Tyler Long shot 52.
Tennis
Connellsville 4, Ringgold 1 – The Lady Falcons earned their first win of the young girls tennis season with this 4-1 non-section win over Ringgold in a match played at Connellsville.
Gretchen Beatty (6-1, 6-1) and Morgan Berger (6-1, 6-0) got singles wins for Connellsville, while Olivia Warner (6-0, 6-0) got Ringgold’s only win at first singles. The Lady Falcons swept the doubles, with Leah McIntosh and McKenzie Miller winning first doubles, 6-3, 6-0, before Riley Baker and Brianna Meyer taking second doubles, 6-2, 6-4.

McGuffey 3, California 2 – California won two of the three singles matches, but were swept in the doubles as McGuffey returned home Wednesday afternoon with a 3-2 victory in Section 1-AA action.
Jessie Conti defeated Emily Cole, 6-0-6-2, at No. 2 singles. Nicole Carson beat Jenna May, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3 singles.
McGuffey’s Anja Eshbaugh dropped just one game in her straight-sets victory at No. 1 singles against Devin Altman.
McGuffey’s Hanna Shaner and Kayla Blazandell lost four games in their No. 1 doubles victory against Hannah Custer and Kristina Luko. The Highlanders’ Chelsea Travis and Molly Helbley lost one game in their No. 2 doubles victory against Lauren Rockwell and Julia Bodner.
