LH sweep opening meet from University High
Coach Ed Yauger was pleased with the start his boys and girls had Friday night, and for good reason because the Laurel Highlands swimming and diving team opened with a sweep of visiting University (W.Va.).
The Mustangs defeated University, 96-62, while the LH girls prevailed, 95-54.
Freshman Gwyneth Hamilton had a strong first meet for the Fillies with first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:25.02) and 500 freestyle (5:44.34). Lexi Kostelnik won the 100 freestyle (56.25) and 100 backstroke (1:04.54), both in WPIAL qualifying times. Kristen Bane finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.91) and Rachel Roscoe won the 200 freestyle (2:06.67).
The Fillies’ 200 medley relay team and the 200 freestyle relay
