Roaring Lions fall at Beaver, 108-102
Brandon Cunningham scored a game-high 31 points in a strong all-around game but it wasn’t enough as Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus fell to Penn State Beaver, 108-102, in a PSUAC men’s basketball game on Tuesday night.
Cunningham hit 12 of 19 shots, tied for game-high honors with eight rebounds and also had three assists, three steals and three blocked shots for coach Mark John’s Roaring Lions (3-8, 2-3).
Beaver (6-6, 4-1) exploded to a 15-3 lead but Fayette roared back with a 16-2 run capped by Marvin Sidon’s 3-pointer to go up 19-17. A pair of free throws by Dominick Jackson put the Roaring Lions up 36-29 with 5:47 left in the first half.
Beaver regrouped and eventually retook the lead, 44-42, on an Eric Gallupe trey 2:55 before intermission and never trailed again.
Lamont Wright and Marcus Smith led Beaver with 25 and 24 points, respectively. Gallupe and Agnacio Alleyne followed with 19 and 18, and Christian Perkins added 14.
Luke Williams had 21 points for the Roaring Lions and was followed by Jackson (20), Sidon (14) and Brownsville graduate C.J. Gaddis (10). Jackson also had five steals.
