LH swimmers sweep meet from Golden Lions
The Fillies had to fight to the final event in the pool, while the Mustangs had a little easier time Thursday night as Laurel Highlands swim team went on the road for non-section road at Greensburg YMCA against Greensburg Salem.
The Laurel Highlands boys won 83-43, while the girls toughed out an 88-82 victory against the Lady Golden Lions.
Freshman Gwyneth Hamilton had a big night for the Fillies with first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle, and swimming a leg on the victorious 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Fellow freshman Miranda Yauger won the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, and was also on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Kristen Bane won the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, and swam the breaststroke leg on the 200 medley relay. Rachel Roscoe took first in the 100 freestyle and was the opening leg of the victorious 400 freestyle relay.
The Lions’ Maris Leonard won the 50 freestyle and swam the opening leg of the winning 200 freestyle relay.
The Mustangs won all three relays. Cameron Lizza, Cole Doborish, Luke Edmonds and Logan Knoyer won the 200 medley relay. Jonathon Lewis, Joseph Stout, Jacob Johnson and Brandon Thomas finished first in the 200 freestyle relay. Dylan Rice, Lizza, Lewis and Johnson won the 400 freestyle relay.
Thomas (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle), Knoyer (200 IM, 100 breaststroke), Dorobish (50 freestyle, 100 backstroke), Edmonds (100 butterfly), and Johnson (100 freestyle) also won individual events.
Both the LH boys and girls improve to 3-0 overall.
