Fillies rally for 64-55 victory
The Laurel Highlands girls rallied from a first-half deficit Saturday afternoon for a 64-55 non-section victory over visiting Ringgold.
The Lady Rams (2-3) led 16-8 after the first quarter and 22-21 at halftime.
The Fillies (4-1) pushed into the lead with a 17-12 advantage in the third quarter and finished off the rally with a 26-21 lead in the fourth quarter.
LH’s Ashley Galderisi led all scorers with 20 points. Abby McDonald finished with 17 and Sarah Proud added 15.
Bailey Cooper led Ringgold with 19 points. Taylor Mendicino added 14.
Baldwin 59, Connellsville 31 – The Connellsville girls fell behind by 17 in the first quarter Saturday afternoon and couldn’t recover for a 59-31 non-section loss at Baldwin.
The Lady Highlanders (3-2) led 44-11 at halftime and 54-18 after three quarters.
Molly Bauer was the lone player in double digits for Connellsville (2-3) with 10 points.
Kayla McCormick and Lauren Gilbert shared scoring honors for Baldwin with 13 points apiece. Alexandra Barr added 11.
Villa Maria 68, Belle Vernon 37 – The Belle Vernon girls scored just four points in the first quarter Saturday afternoon as the Lady Leopards dropped a 68-37 non-section game to visiting Villa Maria.
Villa Maria led by 17 points after the first quarter and extended the advantage to 28 at halftime. Villa Maria led 59-27 after three quarters.
Caitlyn Trombley and Taylor Kovatch shared scoring honors for the Lady Leopards (1-4) with eight points apiece.
Sarah Aenelli led Villa Maria with 16. Anna Sweeney added 12.
Burgettstown 49, Waynesburg Central 34 – The Waynesburg Central girls were close in every quarter Saturday afternoon, but Burgettstown was a little stronger and deeper for a 49-34 non-section home victory.
The Lady Blue Devils led 20-13, 26-17 and 36-23 at the quarter breaks.
Kirsten Garber led Waynesburg (0-3) with 18 points.
Burgettstown’s Kaci Prasko shared game-scoring honors with 18 points. Katie Tarr added 10.
