Connellsville swimmers swept by Cavaliers
The Connellsville swim team was swept for the first time this season, although the Lady Falcons put up a good fight Thursday night against visiting Kiski Area.
The Lady Cavaliers edged the Connellsville girls, 91-89, while the Falcons dropped a 102-83 decision to Kiski Area.
The Lady Falcons had first-place finishes from Alyson Urie (200 IM, 2:15.03; 100 butterfly, 1:02.46), Nicole Wood (50 freestyle, 27.75), Tatum Detwiler (100 freestyle, 55.31; 200 freestyle, 1:50.20; 100 breaststroke, 1:09.67), Carlee Shreve (500 freestyle, 5:49.09), and the 200 freestyle team of Detwiler, Shreve, Lexi Koslosky and Urie (1:50.20).
Urie qualified for the WPIAL Championships in her two first-place finishes, as did Detwiler in the 100 freestyle.
Madison Kirk finished second in the diving with a WPIAL qualifying score of 187.65 points.
The Falcons’ Nick Jacobyansky won the diving with 176.65 points.
Noah Barczyk (200 freestyle, 1:56.88; 500 freestyle, 5:22.90), Collin Mastowski (200 IM, 2:08.69; 100 butterfly, 56.96), Ian McCombie (50 freestyle, 24.07), the 200 freestyle relay quartet of Mastowski, Barczyk, Travis Patterson and McCombie (1:38.44), and the 400 freestyle relay foursome of Mastowski, Barczyk, Patterson and McCombie (3:47.61) all had first-place finishes.
Mastowski’s victories were in WPIAL qualifying times.
