Lady Jaguars edge visiting Belle Vernon, 42-39

The Thomas Jefferson girls held a 3-point advantage in the second half and that was the final difference Monday night as the Lady Jaguars edged visiting Belle Vernon, 42-39, in Section 4-AAA action.

Belle Vernon (0-3, 2-6) held a 13-9 lead in the first quarter and Thomas Jefferson responded with a 13-9 advantage in the second quarter for a 22-22 halftime tie.

The Lady Jaguars (1-3, 2-5) led by one after the third quarter, 34-33, and held an 8-6 advantage in the final eight minutes.

Kelsey Green led the Lady Leopards with 12 points, including 8-of-8 from the foul line, and 15 rebounds. Caitlyn Trombley added 10.

Thomas Jefferson’s Marina Petruzzi had game-scoring honors with 13 points. Sahaylor Williams added 11.
