Mozie, Knox spark Colonials in 79-55 win over GS
Tavian Mozie and David Knox have proven to be a lethal one-two punch for Albert Gallatin early this boys basketball season.
Mozie scored 15 of his game-high 32 points in the third period to help the Colonials blow open a close game and Knox contributed 23 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and five steals as AG defeated host Greensburg Salem, 79-55, in a non-section game on Wednesday night.
Albert Gallatin (5-4) led 18-10 after one period but the Lions (3-4) bounced back with a 27-point second frame to pull within 38-37 at halftime.
Mozie caught fire in the third, though, as coach Shea Fleenor’s Colonials out-scored GS 22-12 for a 60-49 lead and pulled away from there.
Mozie hit four 3-pointers, was 8 for 8 from the foul line and handed out five assists.
Marques Moore added 10 points for AG.
Nick Sabers led Greensburg Salem with 17 points and was followed by Marvel McGowan (14) and Kacee Carter (13).

Frazier 71, West Greene 49 — Joshua Cox and Mark Dillon each scored 16 points for host Frazier to offset a game-high 24 points by West Greene’s Craig Weaver in the Commodores’ non-section win.
Frazier lead 14-10 after one period before taking control with a 23-6 advantage in the second for a 37-16 halftime lead.
The Pioneers (4-4) fought back in the third, out-scoring the Commodores 20-15, but Frazier extended its lead in the final frame.
Damon Lovis added 11 points for the Commodores (3-4).
Girls basketball
Chartiers-Houston 59, Frazier 13 — Chartiers-Houston jumped out to an 18-4 lead in the opening period and pulled away from there for a non-section win.
Alexa Williamson and Jala Walker scored 16 points apiece for the Lady Bucs (6-2).
The Lady Commodores fall to 4-4.

Brentwood 59, Southmoreland 29 — Carissa Cypheert scored a game-high 14 points but it wasn’t nearly enough as Southmoreland fell to host Brentwood in a non-section game.
Hannah Livingston led the Lady Spartans (5-2) with 12 points. Alecia Folino followed with 11 and Stephanie Thomas had 10.
The Lady Scotties fall to 4-4.
