Blue Devils hold on for 65-55 victory
The Gators fell behind early and weren’t able to rally Saturday afternoon as Geibel Catholic dropped a 65-55 decision to Burgettstown in the opening round of the Avella Christmas Tournament.
Geibel Catholic (2-5) trailed 13-6 after the first quarter and 33-19 at halftime, but cut its deficit to four points with around four minutes remaining in the third quarter.
The Blue Devils (3-6) recovered to stretch their lead to 10 points despite Geibel controlling the quarter with a 21-17 advantage.
The teams played to a 15-15 tie in the fourth quarter.
Geibel’s Kyle Toth led all scorers with 21 points. Bailey Miller finished with 15 and Jesse Yourish added 10.
Max Shaw was the top scorer for the Blue Devils with 15 points. Scott Farris had 13 and Jacob Shrockman finished with 10.
