North Allegheny rallies, beats Monessen in OT
North Allegheny out-scored Monessen 10-2 in overtime to give the Quad-A Tigers an 82-74 boys basketball win in the North Allegheny Tournament on Tuesday.
The Class A Greyhounds fall to 6-3 overall with all three of those defeats coming at the hands of Quad-A schools. Upper St. Clair and Franklin Regional beat Monessen earlier in the season.
The Greyhounds used a strong second period to take a 41-32 halftime but NA rallied in the fourth to force OT.
Dwight Moore scored a game-high 31 points to lead Monessen. Jaden Altomore followed with 14 and Justice Rice added 12.
Griffin Sestilli and Curtis Aiken Jr., son of former Pitt basketball star Curtin Aiken Sr., paced the Tigers (6-2) with 23 and 21 points, respectively. Ray Sandherr added 15.
