Waynesburg defeats Lady Bobcats, 78-51

The Waynesburg women trailed after the first quarter Wednesday afternoon, but pulled away in the second half for a 78-51 non-conference victory against visiting Pitt-Greensburg.

The men weren’t as fortunate, dropping a 69-57 decision to Ursinus at the Holiday Inn College Park Classic in Washington, D.C.

The women trailed 19-16 after the first quarter, but pulled ahead at halftime, 29-24. The Yellow Jackets then put together a strong second half, outscoring the Lady Bobcats, 49-27.

Addy Knetzer was the lone player for Waynesburg (4-6) in double figures with 12 points.

Sylvia Stuart led Pitt-Greensburg (4-6) with a game-high 15 points. Casey Hamilton added 10.

The Waynesburg men were tied at 32-all at halftime, but were unable to keep pace with Ursinus in the second half.

BJ Durham led the Yellow Jackets (1-8) with a game-high 18 points. DJ Ritchie added 11. Waynesburg made just 22-of-75 field goal attempts and attempted (and made) only two free throws.

Matt Knowles led Ursinus (2-6) with 15 points. Brian Rafferty finished with 11. Ursinus made 25-of-51 field goal attempts and 9-of-14 free throws.
