Trojans’ offense too much for Maples in 80-22 win

The California boys scored over 20 points in each of the first three quarters Monday night as the Trojans rolled to an 80-22 Section 3-A victory over visiting Mapletown.

California improve to 10-1 in the section and 15-4 overall, and looks to avenge its lone section loss Friday in the season-ending game against Monessen, 10-0 in the section.

The Maples slide to 1-9 in the section and 2-18 overall.

California led 20-7, 41-14 and 63-16 at the quarter breaks.

Tray Matthews scored a game-high 22 points for the Trojans. KC Zajicek finished with 14, Kass Taylor had 13, and Jaycee Conaway added 10.

Matt Hein led the Maples with 10 points.
