Falcons rally to defeat B-C, 64-53
Brownsville rallied into the halftime lead and then put together a strong second half Tuesday night for a 64-53 Section 4-AA road victory.
Brownsville improves to 9-2 in the section and 15-5 overall, while the Bulldogs slip to 2-10 in the section and 9-10 overall.
Beth-Center led 11-8 after the first half, but the Falcons took the lead at halftime, 24-21. Brownsville then secured the victory with a 40-20 advantage in the second half.
Noah Brown scored 27 and Andre Smith added 20 for the Falcons.
Ryan Beyer led the Bulldogs with 16 points.

California 70, Waynesburg Central 47 – The California boys kept rolling through the season Tuesday night, taking a break from section action with a convincing 70-47 win over visiting Waynesburg Central.
The Trojans improve to 16-4 overall, while the Raiders go to 13-7.
California led 21-11, 38-20 and 55-37 at the quarter breaks.
Tray Matthews scored a game-high 26 points for the Trojans. Kass Taylor finished with 15 points.
Dom Sarra led the Raiders with 21 points. Mitch Warman added 10.

Penn-Trafford 65, Albert Gallatin 30 – Penn-Trafford cruised to a 65-30 win over visiting Albert Gallatin Tuesday night and in the process knocked Connellsville out of the Section 1-AAAA playoff hunt.
The Warriors improve to 4-7 in the section and 7-13 overall. Albert Gallatin slides to 1-10 in the section and 2-15 overall.
Penn-Trafford led 16-6, 35-14 and 56-22 at the quarter breaks.
Christian Creps led the Warriors with 15 points. Sean Stinelli added 11.
David Knox scored 11 points for the Colonials.

Frazier 68, Carmichaels 48 – A quartet of Commodores scored in double figures Tuesday night to lead Frazier to a 68-48 Section 4-AA victory over visiting Carmichaels.
Leading 15-10 after the first quarter, Frazier (6-5, 10-10) pulled away in the second quarter for a 39-18 halftime lead. The Mikes (1-9, 5-15) held a slight 30-29 advantage in the second half.
L.A. Ross led the Commodores with a game-high 18 points. Josh Cox and Damon Lovis both scored 14, and Caleb Cox and Mark Dillon finished with 10 points each.
Jacob Kinsell scored 14 points for the Mikes. Nick Mundell added 11.

Southmoreland 61, Derry 45 – Southmoreland built an early double-digit lead and cruised to a 61-45 Section 3-AAA home victory Tuesday night over visiting Derry.
The Scotties (9-3, 16-4) led 18-4, 33-16 and 48-28 at the quarter breaks.
Justin Livengood led Southmoreland with 13 points. Doug Leighty added 10.
Ryan Maloy led the Trojans (2-11, 2-18) with a game-high 24 points. Justin Ray finished with 11.

Monessen 89, Mapletown 24 – The Greyhounds scored 61 points in the first half Tuesday night as visiting Monessen rolled to an 89-24 Section 3-A victory at Mapletown.
Noah Rullo led Monessen (11-0, 15-6) with a game-high 19 points. Dwight Moore and Lavalle Rush both scored 14, and Brendon Lenhart added 11.
Adam Hein led the Maples (1-10, 2-19) with 11 points.
Girls basketball
Monessen 38, Mapletown 33 – The Mapletown girls led 10-9 after the first quarter Tuesday night, but visiting Monessen rallied for a 38-33 Section 3-A victory.
The Lady Greyhounds (6-7, 8-12) pulled into a 26-20 halftime lead, and added a point for a 32-25 lead after three quarters.
Mapletown (3-8, 4-15) held an 8-6 advantage in the fourth quarter.
Rachael Buchtan scored eight points for Mapletown.
Teraee Bradford led Monessen with 12 points. Cara Grogan added 10.

Kiski Area 37, Albert Gallatin 30 – The Kiski Area girls avoided a series sweep Tuesday night, edging visiting Albert Gallatin, 37-30, in Section 1-AAAA action.
The Lady Cavaliers (1-10, 1-15) led throughout the game, taking a 6-4 lead after the first quarter, extending it to 13-10 at halftime, and adding to the advantage after three quarters, 24-17. The teams played to a 13-all tie in the fourth quarter.
Alyssa Braddee led the Lady Colonials (1-10, 1-17) with 11 points. Rebecca Burasco and Monica Saunders both scored eight points.
Kija Peterson scored a game-high 21 points for Kiski Area.

Geibel Catholic 46, Avella 30 – The Geibel Catholic girls positioned themselves for a winner-take-all game for third place in Section 3-A by defeating visiting Avella, 46-30, Tuesday night.
The Lady Gators improve to 8-5 in the section and 11-6 overall, and play at Fort Cherry, 8-5 in section, Thursday in the season finale with the winner securing third place.
Avella slips to 3-10 in the section and 5-16 overall.
The Lady Eagles led 10-7 after the first quarter, but Geibel rallied back by shutting out Avella in the second quarter for a 17-10 halftime lead.
The Lady Gators then pulled away in the third quarter, 21-11, for a 38-21 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Karly Judy led Geibel with 17 points. Riley Bocan added 12.
Joelie Gossett scored a game-high 19 points for Avella.
Swimming
Uniontown (girls) 91, Baldwin 91; Baldwin (boys) 90, Uniontown 52 – The Uniontown girls tied Baldwin, 91-91, while the Red Raiders dropped a 90-52 decision to the visiting Highlanders Tuesday night in a non-section swimming meet.
The Lady Raiders are now 3-6-1 overall and the Uniontown boys go to 2-8.
Elizabeth Klingensmith had a fine performance for the home squad, winning the 200 freestyle (2:08.34) and the 100 butterfly (1:03.97), as well as swimming a leg on the victorious 200 medley relay (2:05.88) and 400 freestyle relay (4:18.63). All four times were WPIAL qualifying times.
Rachel Van Nosdeln (50 freestyle, 27.51), Maeve Carei (diving, 184.20), Rylee Levander (100 backstroke, 1:10.98), and Alexandra Meadows (100 breaststroke, 1:22.52). Levander, Meadows and Van Nosdeln were all on the winning 200 medley relay team, and Van Nosdeln, Valerie Grimes and Levander all swam a leg on the victorious 400 freestyle relay.
The Red Raiders’ Braden Carei and Jonathan Sharp both had two individual first-place finishes and swam legs on the victorious 200 medley relay.
Carei won the 50 freestyle (25.23) and diving (245.75), while Sharp won the 100 butterfly in a WPIAL qualifying time of 1:00.05 and the backstroke in 1:06.48. The two swimmers joined Chase Bowen and Evan Klatt to win the 200 medley relay in 2:01.72.
Bowen had the other first-place finish for Uniontown in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.33).
