Lady Bulldogs earn key section win over Bentworth
Anna Bartman scored a game-high 23 points and hit five of six free throws down the stretch to help lead Beth-Center over visiting Bentworth, 53-43, in a key Section 4-AA girls basketball game on Monday night.
The victory gives the Lady Bulldogs (6-3, 4-2) a two-game lead over the Lady Bearcats and pulls them even with Frazier for third place in the standings. The top four teams advance to the WPIAL playoffs.
Beth-Center led 14-10 after one period and 25-24 at halftime before taking control with a 17-11 advantage in the third frame to go up 42-35.
The Lady Bulldogs maintained their lead in the final eight minutes, hitting seven of eight free throws in the final 1:20 to secure the victory.
Grace Marchezak led the Lady Bearcats (6-6, 2-4) with 18 points and Heather Chester had 11.
Kinlee Whited scored 13 points for B-C.
