Laurel Highlands swimmers swept by Big Macs
The Laurel Highlands swimming teams took a break from section action Tuesday night, but had a tough time on the road losing both ends of a meet at Canon-McMillan.
The Mustangs lost to Canon-McMillan, 106-69, while the Canon-McMillan girls defeated the Fillies, 102-78.
Although the LH girls lost, they had several individual first-place finishes. Kristen Bane (200 IM, 2:23.70), Emily Yarish (50 freestyle, 26.28; 100 freestyle, 58.50), Lexi Kostelnik (100 butterfly, 1:04.48), Rachel Roscoe (500 freestyle, 6:11.6), and Kristen Bane (100 breaststroke, 1:13.92) all won their individual events. Kostelnik, Bane, Yarish and Roscoe finished first in the 200 medley relay with a WPIAL qualifying time of 1:59.28.
The Big Macs’ Brittany Byer (200 freestyle, 2:01.76; 100 backstroke, 1:02.78), Desiree Kline (diving, 213.25), 200 freestyle relay (1:48.12), and 400 freestyle relay (4:15.02) finished first.
The Mustangs had first-place finishes from Logan Knoyer (200 freestyle, 1:52.71; 49.79), Cameron Lizza (200 IM, 2:22), Daniel Keith (50 freestyle, 24.47; 100 backstroke, 1:03.31), John Ek (diving, 164.55), and Jamey Siebert (100 breaststroke, 1:19.87).
The 200 medley relay (1:53.25), Cody Stewart (100 butterfly, 59.82), Parker Roach (500 freestyle, 5:31.88), 200 freestyle relay (1:40.19) and 400 freestyle relay (3:41.20) all had first-place finishes.
The Fillies slip to 4-4, while the LH boys are now 5-3.
