Norwin swimmers sweep visiting Connellsville

Norwin was just too tough at home Thursday night, sweeping a Section 1-AAA meet from visiting Connellsville.

The Lady Knights defeated the Connellsville girls, 91-67, while the Norwin boys beat the Falcons, 88-74.

Alyson Urie won the 500 freestyle (5:33.06). Bayle Shreve finished second in 100 butterfly (1:09.31), as did Urie in the 200 IM (2:21.79).

Urie, Shreve, Lexi Koslosky and Nicole Wood finished second in the 200 freestyle relay with a time  of 1:53.87.

Ian McCombie (100 freestyle, 55.19) and Noah Barczyk (500 freestyle, 5:34.06) had individual first-place finishes. McCombie, Barczyk, Travis Patterson and Collin Mastowski won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:41.73.

Mastowski finished second in the 200 IM with a WPIAL qualifying time of 2:10.46. Barczyk (200 freestyle, 1:59.84), McCombie (50 freestyle, 24.59) and Mastowski (100 butterfly, 57.03) also had second-place finishes.

Connellsville returns to the pool on Feb. 5 against Hempfield.
