Take away the one over-par hole Rachel Rohanna had in the second round of the Tullymore Classic and she would be tied with Giulia Molinaro and Chie Arimura atop the leaderboard.

Rohanna finished with a 2-under 70 Saturday in the inaugural event on the Symetra Tour and sits two strokes off the lead with a 9-under 135 entering today’s third and final round. The Waynesburg Central graduate is tied for sixth.

Rohanna opened on No. 10 in the afternoon rounds and started with a pair of pars before carding a birdie-2 on No. 12. She followed with three straight pars before scoring a birdie-4 on No. 16. Rohanna went out in 2-under 35.

Rohanna made the turn with a birdie on No. 1, but gave away a couple strokes with her second double bogey of the tournament on the par-3 seventh hole.

“I was playing for more wind and I flew a 5-iron into the sand trap,” explained Rohanna. “I had trouble in the trap and then flew the green. I chipped on and made a 2-footer for double bogey.”

Rohanna ended the round on an upnote with a birdie on No. 9 to play her back nine in even-par 35.

She hit 15-of-18 greens in the second round after missing just one in regulation on Friday. (The one green she missed in the first round led to her lone double bogey.) Rohanna needed 29 putts in the second round, one more than in Friday’s first round.

“I made some good putts for par,” said Rohanna. “I played similar to (the first round). I felt confident with my swing. I feel prepared enough.”

Rohanna outlined a plan coming into the Symetra Tour event and is ahead of her goal after the second round.

“My goal was 70-70-70. I shot 7-under in the first round, so I was five strokes better and shot 70 in the second round. I’m happy with where I am,” said Rohanna. “I have another opportunity to shoot a good score.”

The Tullymore Classic ends a five-week stretch through the Midwest on the Symetra Tour. The tour takes next week off before it turns to New York and the Northeast.
