Michael Hardy, a 1975 Connellsville Area High School graduate, will be enshrined later this year as a member of the Slippery Rock University Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015. The 32nd annual induction ceremony will be held on Sept. 19 as part of The Rock’s home football weekend against Millersville.

The Class of 2015 includes Hardy, Thomas Lambert (judo coach, posthumously), Robert Page (Class of 1978, softball/basketball), Jeff Quinn (Class of 1986, men’s soccer), Laura Remaly (Class of 1982, judo/field hockey/track), and Peg Sims (Class of 1975, cross country/swimming). The induction of the seven-member class will bring the Hall of Fame to 222 members.

Hardy was a standout basketball player for the Falcons before taking his talents under the basket to Slippery Rock. Hardy was a two-time Academic All-America, ranks No. 1 all-time in shooting percentage (.625), and one of 11 players in the history of the program to record 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.

Hardy played in 87 games for The Rock from 1975-79 and averaged 13.9 points and 9.6 points per game. He made 470-of-752 field goal attempts in his career and his shooting percentage of 62.5 percent remains the best career mark at Slippery Rock. Hardy is fifth in career rebounds (833), sixth in blocks (76), eighth in free throws made (273) and ninth in scoring (1,213 points).

Hardy’s best season came in 1978-79 when he shot a single-season record 66.7 percent from the field. Hardy helped Slippery Rock to the NCAA Tournament in 1977-78.

Hardy also excelled in the classroom by being named to the Academic All-America team twice and he continued his education after Slippery Rock by earning a master’s degree in public management from Carnegie Mellon University in 2001.

Hardy is the Vice President of Support Services at ZOLL Medical, where he has oversight of customer support, technical support and logistics for the company’s LifeVest patients. He and his wife, Kathy, have four children and four grandchildren. His children include: daughter Rachel Hardy, who graduated from Slippery Rock in 2014; daughter Monica Hardy, who has two children; step-son Brian Darcy, who has two children; and step-son Shawn Darcy.
