Yough and Southmoreland are the top two teams in Section 2-AAA, but the Lady Cougars were just a little bit better Tuesday afternoon for a 9-2 victory over the visiting Lady Scots.

Yough closes with a section mark of 12-0 and an overall record of 14-3. Southmoreland (10-3) finishes in second place with a 9-3 record.

The Lady Cougars led 5-0 after four innings, but Southmoreland cut the gap with two runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Yough countered with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Katie Troisi-Clark belted a home run for Southmoreland. Kristen Suhan walked two in the loss.

Mary Mularski allowed two hits with 12 strikeouts and one walk in the win. She also doubled. Rachel Mlinek went 3-for-4 with a double.
