Gators rally past Waynesburg women, 85-82
Allegheny rallied to force overtime and then carried the play in the extra period Saturday afternoon for an 85-82 non-conference victory against visiting Waynesburg.
The Yellow Jackets trailed at halftime, 39-32, but surged into the lead with a 31-12 advantage in the third quarter.
The Gators (3-3) fought back in the final quarter for a 23-13 advantage to force overtime. Allegheny won the extra period, 9-6.
Maura Bobby led Waynesburg with a game-high 24 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field. Abby Knetzer finished with 14 points, and Lauren Blair and Katie Gehlman both scored 11.
Ifeyinwa Uwazie had a double-double for the Gators with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Kaitlyn Fromknecht also had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Emma Pellicano added 14 points.
Men’s basketball
Lock Haven 97, Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus 62 — The visiting Roaring Lions trailed by 18 at halftime and weren’t able to recover in the final 20 minutes for a road defeat against the Division II Bald Eagles, who play in the PSAC.
Brandon Cunningham led the Roaring Lions (2-4) with 21 points. Luke Williams added 17.
Craig Slade scored a game-high 17 points for Lock Haven (5-2). Five other Bald Eagle players finished in double digits, including Ra’eese Hunt (15), Shawn Church (13), Brahieme Jackson (12), Bootsie Walker (11), and Tracy Peal (10).
