Cal women suffer 1-0 loss to Gannon
Mandi Brueckner scored the lone goal of the game at 77:55 Tuesday night to lead Gannon to a 1-0 PSAC road victory at California (Pa.).
The Vulcans slip to 8-5-3 in the conference and 8-6-3 overall. The Lady Knights remain unbeaten, improving to 15-0 in the PSAC and 17-0 overall.
California lost two starting defenders midway through the second half and Brueckner took advantage of the depleted defensive corps with her conference-leading 16th goal.
Cal’s Meghan Jayes made five saves.
The Vulcans close out the regular season on Saturday when they host Lock Haven on Senior Day at 5 p.m.
Women’s volleyball
Washington & Jefferson 3, Saint Vincent 0 — The Presidents scored a sweep from the visiting Lady Bearcats to secure a berth into the Presidents’ Athletic Conference tournament.
Washington & Jefferson won by the scores, 25-23, 26-24, 25-23.
Connellsville graduate Allison Means finished with a season-high 30 digs for the Presidents. Means entered the match ranked 12th in NCAA Division III with 5.84 digs per set.
