West Greene’s track & field team had a strong showing in Thursday’s Section 6-AA meet at Washington High School.

The Pioneers defeated the Bearcats, 74-49, while the Lady Pioneers won, 85-39.

Craig Weaver posted victories in the shot put (34-7) and discus (102-5) for the Pioneers.

West Greene’s Drew Wise was victorious in the 110 hurdles (20.99) and the 300 hurdles (54.5). Teammate Ben Scott won the 100 in 12.00 and was on the 400 relay team.

Darius Hays won three events for the Bearcats in the javelin (119-5), high jump (5-4) and long jump (19-1).

Rachel Jones won three events for the Lady Pioneers in the 1,600 (6:28), 3,200 (14:28) and was a member of the 3,200 relay team that won in 11:42. She teamed with Sydnee Watson, Sarah Jones and Sarah Courtwright.

Ashley Cunningham won the 100 for West Greene in 14.9. She was also on the victorious 400 relay team.

Heather Custer won the shot put (32-6.5) and the discus (101-6) for the Lady Bearcats.
