Mapletown softball too much for Avella, 13-0

Mapletown 13, Avella 0 – Mapletown’s Abby McIntire allowed two hits in five innings pitched to lead the Lady Maples past Avella, 13-0, on Tuesday at Avella in Section 1-A softball action.

McIntire allowed a single in the bottom of the fourth but held the Lady Eagles (0-6, 0-8) in check the rest of the contest. She had two strikeouts and one walk.

Mapletown scored two in the first, four in the second and two in the fourth before scoring five in the fifth to enact the 10-run Mercy Rule.

Taylor Vanata hit a two-run home run for the Lady Maples in the top of the second. She added two singles. Teammate Macee Chesney doubled, singled and had two RBIs. Mapletown’s Makenzie Cree had two singles and an RBI.

Maddie Bogden singled and had two RBIs for the Lady Maples, and Hannah Hockin had an RBI single. Freshman Madeline Grim was put in the fifth and singled.

The Lady Maples travel to California today in a non-section game that is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
