Rockets top Maples in baseball

Jefferson-Morgan stole 12 bases and winning pitcher Jacob Bissett had 11 strikeouts without a walk, as the Rockets beat Mapletown, 9-3, in Section 1-A baseball action Wednesday.

Bissett pitched a complete game for the Rockets (5-4, 2-3), while Zack Shaffer’s two-run homer highlighted a four-run sixth. Gage Clark tripled for the Rockets.

Mapletown’s Brian Bogden suffered the pitching loss, while the Rush brothers provided all of Mapletown’s runs. Matt Rush had a two-run double in the sixth and Dylan Rush scored on his brother’s double and on a sacrifice fly after tripling in the fourth inning. Mapletown fell to 1-7, 0-5.
