Waynesburg beats Charleroi, loses to Washington
Both the Waynesburg Central boys and girls had the same result Thursday afternoon in their Section 6-AA triangular, a win against Charleroi and loss to Washington.
The Raiders defeated the Cougars, 101-48, and lost the the Prexies, 89-61. The Lady Raiders downed Charleroi, 78-70, and lost to Washington, 99-50.
Lindsee Zimmer (1,600, 800, 3,200), Lauren Rose (triple jump), Thorin Falor (javelin), Maddie Brooks (discus), and Brenna Lipscomb (pole vault) won their events against the Lady Cougars.
Zimmer (1,600, 800, 3,200), Rose (triple jump), Brooks (discus), and Lipscomb (pole vault) also finished first against Washington.
Kyra Watkins (100 high hurdles, 300 intermediate hurdles), Jessica Day (100, 200, 400), and Maria Claybaugh, long jump, high jump) had first-place finishes for Charleroi against Waynesburg.
Daniel Layton (110 high hurdles), Ben Bumgarner (1,600, 3,200), Cameron McIe (400), Calvin Rogers (800), Blake Brewer (200), Ryan Brownfield (javelin), Mitch Warman (shot put, discus), and Will Behm (pole vault) finished first against Charleroi.
Charleroi’s Nick Esola won the long jump and triple jump against the Raiders.
Bumgarner won the 1,600 and 3,200 against the Prexies. Warman, Behm, Layton and McIe also had overall first-place finishes.
