Vulcans drop 78-74 contest to Millersville
California University of Pennsylvania men’s basketball dropped a 78-74 contest to Millersville on Sunday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover play at the Convocation Center on the Cal U campus.
The Vulcans are 0-4 in league action and 2-7 overall. The Marauders improved to 3-1 in league play and 4-3 overall.
Cal freshman guard Ramon Creighton scored a team-high 20 points (14 second half) on 9-of-19 shooting from the floor, two rebounds and two assists in 36 minutes. The Pittsburgh native has led the Vulcans in scoring in seven of nine games this year, including five 20-point games.
Cal U shot 47.0 percent (31-of-66) from the field while converting 45.5 percent (5-of-11) from the free-throw line. The Marauders shot 42.9 percent (27-of-63) from the floor, including 36.4 percent (12-of-33) from three-point territory. The Vulcans finished with a 43-33 rebounding advantage.
Millersville sophomore Marcus Adkison scored a game-high 32 points after going 9-of-16 from beyond the arc.
California junior Cordell Smith scored 14 points and had nine rebounds, while dishing out a team-high five assists. Daniel Sapp and Tony Richardson both scored 10 points for the Vulcans, and Richardson added nine rebounds.
Cal continues PSAC crossover play on Saturday when it hosts Shippensburg at 5 p.m.
