Polish finishes third

Kevin Polish finished a close third in the Compound Men Open division Wednesday in the Third Para Archery Mail Match of the Americas held in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The event, which spanned results compiled in the last four months, saw record participation with 73 archers from 10 countries.

Canadian Kevin Evans finished first with 689 points, just one point ahead of the United States’ Ben Thompson.

Polish finished third with 685 points, only one point ahead of teammate Matt Stutzman.

Lance Thornton finished seventh with 678 points, Richard Burkett placed ninth with 671, and Olympic gold medalist Andre Shelby was 10th with 669 points to give the United States two more finishers in the top 10.

The United States had a strong competition with first-place finishers by Jerry Shields (W1 category), Mark Schrand (visually impaired category), and Michael Lukow (recurve open men’s division).
